Books Without Romance | T5W

Hello bookworms! I’m Nia and today I’m going to be talking about some books that have no or little romance on them.

This was very tough to come across, beause looking at my shelves I found that the mayority of books I read usually have romances in them, which is crazy because I haven’t realised until now! But I managed to have at least 5 books that doesn’t have romance. Like at all. I believe one of them have a teeny tiny bit, but it’s not the main focus. At all.

Without any further ado, let’s start with this week’s topic!

This Savage Song | Victoria Schwab

My thoughts: This book was one of my favourites of last year. I love Victoria Schwab, but I was really surprised when I knew there was no romance in the book. And it fits it perfectly in my opinion. There’s a very tight friendship between both main characters, and I think all the monsters were a very interesting concept and I really enjoyed reading about Kate and August, and their families. They were so different, but I think their frienship is so special. I’m so excited to read the second installment and see how everything ends!

Little Monsters | Kara Thomas

My thoughts: This book is coming out this month and it was a murder/mystery story that sometimes felt paranormal. It was quite weird but I really enjoyed it, and the more I think about it the more I like it! I was really surprised when I saw that there was no romance at all in the story, but it was focused more on family and friendship. I don’t usually come across with these type of books, so it was something I apreciated while reading, especially because if there had been any kind of romance in it I would have found it not that enjoyable. Maybe.

Synopsis

Kacey is the new girl in Broken Falls. When she moved in with her father, she stepped into a brand-new life. A life with a stepbrother, a stepmother, and strangest of all, an adoring younger half sister.

Kacey’s new life is eerily charming compared with the wild highs and lows of the old one she lived with her volatile mother. And everyone is so nice in Broken Falls—she’s even been welcomed into a tight new circle of friends. Bailey and Jade invite her to do everything with them.

Which is why it’s so odd when they start acting distant. And when they don’t invite her to the biggest party of the year, it doesn’t exactly feel like an accident.

But Kacey will never be able to ask, because Bailey never makes it home from that party. Suddenly, Broken Falls doesn’t seem so welcoming after all—especially once everyone starts looking to the new girl for answers.

Kacey is about to learn some very important lessons: Sometimes appearances can be deceiving. Sometimes when you’re the new girl, you shouldn’t trust anyone.

Odd & True | Cat Winters

My thoughts: I’ve kinda cheateda bit with this one because it hasn’t come out yet, but I’ve recently read an ARC and again, I was really surprised to see there was no romance in the book. I really loved how it focused more on sisterhood and how both sisters loved and took care of each other and basically their messed up family. It had some hints of paranormal/fantasy in the story, but my favourite part I think was knowing about their pasts.

Synopsis

Trudchen grew up hearing Odette’s stories of their monster-slaying mother and a magician’s curse. But now that Tru’s older, she’s starting to wonder if her older sister’s tales were just comforting lies, especially because there’s nothing fantastic about her own life—permanently disabled and in constant pain from childhood polio.

In 1909, after a two-year absence, Od reappears with a suitcase supposedly full of weapons and a promise to rescue Tru from the monsters on their way to attack her. But it’s Od who seems haunted by something. Vicious | V. E. Schwab

The Fixer | Jennifer Lynn Barnes

My thoughts: I really really loved this book! It was so much fun and really easy and quick to read I couldn’t help but loved it. From what I can remember there was no romance in the book either. Or if there was, it was minimum. But I totally recommend it. I really enjoyed the story and the characters and I’m super excited to pick up the second installment because everyone says it’s even better than the first book!

Synopsis

But when her estranged sister Ivy uproots her to D.C., Tess is thrown into a world that revolves around politics and power.
