TOP 5 TUESDAY, Young Adult

Characters That Would Win the Show Survivor | T5T

Hello bookworms! I’m Nia and today I’m going to be talking about some characters that I think could win the show Survivor.

First of all, I wanted to apologize for my lack of posts this past few days. I’ve been very sick and I couldn’t write or schedule anything, and I didn’t feel like sitting down and write stuff for the blog, so sorry! I’ll try to be more active in the next few days.

Also I have to admit that I don’t watch this TV show. Well, I’ve done a couple of times, but I’m not the biggest fan of realities. I don’t watch a lot of TV, so maybe that’s why. Nonetheless, I know what the show is about and everything, so I have a few characters that I think would be pretty good survivors if needed, even though my list is a bit bigger than five.

If you aren’t familiar with Top 5 Tuesday, it is a group here on WordPress now currently run by Shanah over at BionicBookWorm, where each week they give you a topic and you talk about 5 books that fit that category.

Without any further ado, let’s start with this week’s topic!

Katniss Everdeen | The Hunger Games

2767052

My thoughts: This would come to no surprise, because Katniss actually survived a much worse show, and war… and even worse than that. However, I think she would be an incredible member of the show, as she would be not only super helpful in the island, but also she’d be one of those people who could do everything and teach the others how to hunt, catch fishes, or simply build a house out of nowhere.

Winning will make you famous.
Losing means certain death.

The nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America, is a country that consists of a wealthy Capitol region surrounded by 12 poorer districts. Early in its history, a rebellion led by a 13th district against the Capitol resulted in its destruction and the creation of an annual televised event known as the Hunger Games. In punishment, and as a reminder of the power and grace of the Capitol, each district must yield one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 through a lottery system to participate in the games. The ‘tributes’ are chosen during the annual Reaping and are forced to fight to the death, leaving only one survivor to claim victory.

When 16-year-old Katniss’s young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12’s female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives. , she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.

Amani | Rebel of The Sands

24934065

My thoughts: I’ve recently read this book, but I think Amani, like Katniss, would be an amazing competitor. She knows how to live by herself, and even though she has a tendency to get into trouble, Amani is also one of those characters that knows how to take care of herself, and because of that I think she would be an amazing cast member!

Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mythical beasts still roam the wild and remote areas, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinn still perform their magic.  For humans, it’s an unforgiving place, especially if you’re poor, orphaned, or female.

Amani Al’Hiza is all three.  She’s a gifted gunslinger with perfect aim, but she can’t shoot her way out of Dustwalk, the back-country town where she’s destined to wind up wed or dead.

Then she meets Jin, a rakish foreigner, in a shooting contest, and sees him as the perfect escape route. But though she’s spent years dreaming of leaving Dustwalk, she never imagined she’d gallop away on mythical horse—or that it would take a foreign fugitive to show her the heart of the desert she thought she knew.

Zélie Adebola | Children of Blood and Bone

34728667

My thoughts: Okay, well… poor Zélie has enough with what she’s currently going through, but she’s such a badass character that I think she’d be an incredible addition to the show. Not only you see in CoBaB how she took care of herself and others and basically risk her own life multiple times, but her personality and the way she thinks would be super interesting to see in this type of scenario.

I have a review of this book here in case you want to check it out.

Zélie Adebola remembers when the soil of Orïsha hummed with magic. Burners ignited flames, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zelie’s Reaper mother summoned forth souls.

But everything changed the night magic disappeared. Under the orders of a ruthless king, maji were targeted and killed, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope.

Now, Zélie has one chance to bring back magic and strike against the monarchy. With the help of a rogue princess, Zélie must outwit and outrun the crown prince, who is hell-bent on eradicating magic for good.

Danger lurks in Orïsha, where snow leoponaires prowl and vengeful spirits wait in the waters. Yet the greatest danger may be Zélie herself as she struggles to control her powers—and her growing feelings for the enemy.

Attia | Blood and Sand

30975382

My thoughts: I was debating whether or not to add Attia to this list, because even though she’s such a strong, intelligent and badass character, I don’t picture her being on an island trying to get food. Somehow she’s much more than that. But because of this, it would be pretty interesting to see how she performs in this show. Who knows, maybe she’d surprise us all?

FORGED IN BATTLE…
FROM THE DUST OF THE ARENA…
A LEGEND WILL RISE

Roma Victrix. The Republic of Rome is on a relentless march to create an empire―an empire built on the backs of the conquered, brought back to Rome as slaves.

Attia was once destined to rule as the queen and swordmaiden of Thrace, the greatest warrior kingdom the world had seen since Sparta. Now she is a slave, given to Xanthus, the Champion of Rome, as a sign of his master’s favor. Enslaved as a child, Xanthus is the preeminent gladiator of his generation.

Against all odds, Attia and Xanthus form a tentative bond. A bond that will spark a rebellion. A rebellion that threatens to bring the Roman Republic to its end―and gives rise to the legend of Spartacus…

Jason Zhou | Want

32333174

My thoughts: Technically, Jason Zhou is already a survivor, because after all he went through in Want, well… let’s say he’s gone through a lot. But really, he would be one of my best bets, because if he managed to live in that dystopian atmosphere and not only survive, but take care of other people… he would be a winner!

I have a review of this book here in case you want to check it out.

Jason Zhou survives in a divided society where the elite use their wealth to buy longer lives. The rich wear special suits that protect them from the pollution and viruses that plague the city, while those without suffer illness and early deaths. Frustrated by his city’s corruption and still grieving the loss of his mother, who died as a result of it, Zhou is determined to change things, no matter the cost.

With the help of his friends, Zhou infiltrates the lives of the wealthy in hopes of destroying the international Jin Corporation from within. Jin Corp not only manufactures the special suits the rich rely on, but they may also be manufacturing the pollution that makes them necessary.

Yet the deeper Zhou delves into this new world of excess and wealth, the more muddled his plans become. And against his better judgment, Zhou finds himself falling for Daiyu, the daughter of Jin Corp’s CEO. Can Zhou save his city without compromising who he is or destroying his own heartimg_1516
