Book Reviews, PLAYLIST BOOK TAG

Playlist Book Tag

Hello bookworms! I’m Nia and today I’m going to be doing the playlist book tag. Now if you’re not familiar with this tag, it’s quite simple: you put your music on shuffle and you try to find a book that has something to do or reminds you of that song.

I don’t know who the creator of this tag was, so if you do definitely let me know and I’ll tag it. I honestly think this is such a fun tag and I’m almost positive I’ll do a part two in the future because I had quite a good time doing it!

Without any further ado, let’s start with this tag!

Million Dollar Man | Lana Del Rey

One for the money and two for the show.

I love you honey, I’m ready I’m ready to go.

How did you get that way? I don’t know.

You’re screwed up and brilliant, look like a million dollar man,

So why is my heart broke?

I chose this book for this song because I think it fits perfectly! Honestly I was listening to it while reading the book and it created the perfect match. They both have a very mysterious and wealthy man, and in both cases that particular boy has been the ruin of the girl. Also Lana creates that whimsical, melancholical atmosphere that adds a little bit of extra something to the novel.

Almost Lover | A Fine Frenzy

I cannot go to the ocean, I cannot drive the streets at night,

I cannot wake up in the morning, without you on my mind.

So you’re gone and I’m haunted, and I bet that you are just fine.

Did I make it that easy to walk right in and out of my life?

This took me SOOO long because I couldn’t think about a book that matched this song perfectly, but I finally decided for this one. I think that like the song, our main character (thelittle mermaid) is very much in love with the boy, and cannot stop thinking about him. The book is actually darker than the song, but the sad tone it’s sang fits perfectly with how I imagined our MC.

Going To Hell | The Pretty Reckless

For the laws that I break, I’m going to hell.

For the lies that I make, I’m going to hell.

For the way I condescend, and never land a hand,

My arrogance is making this head buried in the sand.

This was one of the most accurate books I could find and I think I did a pretty good job here. There is a particular character I was thinking about while listening to this song, and that ladies and gentlemen is Mr. Kaz Brekker. Yes, even though the entire cast of crows would probably fit here, I think Kaz is the most likely to go to hell. I love him so much and he’s a beloved and favourite character of mine, though.

Drive | Halsey

Your laugh echoes down the highway, carves into my hollow chest

Spreads over the emptiness. It’s bliss.

It’s so simple but we can’t stay overanalyze again.

Would it really kill you if we kissed?

trcbluelilylilyblue

OH MY GOD GUYS! I was looking at my shelves thinking what book would be perfect for this song and suddenly BOOM, I found it! Now I have to tell you I love metaphors and when I listened to this lines of the song it suddenly came to my mind. Blue and Gansey (no, not a spoiler). I think it fits perfectly. I’m so proud of myself *pats herself on the back*.

Far Too Young To Die | Panic! At The Disco

I’ve got to have you closer now.

Endless romantic stories, you never could control me.

Well, I never really thought that you’d come tonight

While the crown hangs heavy on either side.

Give me one last kiss while we’re far too young to die.

I’d probably cheat a bit with this one but I was listening this song while reading the second and third book and I found it very relatable. I’m not going to tell you much about it because spoilers, but I think they go pretty well together.

Eyelids | Pvris

I’ll face my fear of the sunrise when I wake up with your hand inside of mine.

It’s hard to say “good morning” when it’s follow with “goodbye”.

[…]

I’ll face my fear of the cold nights when you leave me behind.

I felt your hands on my hair, I felt your breath on my neck,

Yeah, I need to feel you again…

I honestly don’t have any particular reason why I thought of The Night Circus while listening to this song, but hey! I think it was because of a certain scene happening during a certain scene *coughs*. Hopefully you’ll know what I mean.

Anyway, I really think this song has something to do with the book, and it was the first that came to my mind.

Centuries | Fall Out Boy

Some legends are told, some turn to dust or to gold,

But you will remember me for centuries.

And just one mistake, is all it will take,

We’ll go down on history, remember me for centuries.

throne-of-glass-series-4-queen-of-shadows-600x911

Well, well, well… Long time no see! It’s been a while since I’ve read this book but I this song fits perfect with this series. I had in mind either Queen of Shadows or Empire of Storms, but honestly the entire series are accurate.

I Will Follow You Into The Dark | Death Cab For Cutie

Love of mine someday you will die,

But I’ll be close behind, I’ll follow you into the light.

No blinding light, or tunnels to gates of white

Just our hands clasp so tight, waiting for the hint of the spark.

If Heaven and Hell decide that they both are satisfied,

Illuminate the no’s on their vacancy signs.

If there’s no one beside you when your soul embarks

Then I’ll follow you into the dark.

I cry with this song. Really. Sobbing like a little child. And I also cried with this book.

If you have read The Infernal Devices you’ll probably know all the jazz surrounding Will, Jem and Tessa. But this song it’s so sad, but it still shows you a message of pure love. And I think it’s what I felt reading about their relationship, not between Tessa and her love interests, but also the frienship and parabatai bond that Will and Jem shared.

The Devil Within | Digital Daggers

I made myself a promise,

You would never see me cry ’til I make you.

You’ll never know what hit you, won’t see me closing in.

I’m gonna make you suffer.

This hell you put me in, I’m underneath your skin.

The devil within.

vicious_victonagi_v-e-schwab

I had another book in mind for this song but while I was looking at my shelves and spot Vicious I thought they would be perfect together. The meaning is kind of metaphorical, and if you’ve read this book these lines in particular have a lot to do with Victor’s personal vendetta.

  1. Ah, this is so fun! I’m definitely hoping to do this tag sometime on my blog; I love making playlists for books, but it’ll be fun to have to choose a book based off a song via shuffling on Spotify (which might have interesting results). XD

    1. I preffer the ACOTAR series over the Throne of Glass. I really enjoyed the first three books but it went kind of downhill to me, but I would say if you are interested give them a chance because you may enjoy them more than me (mine it’s quite an unpopular opinion!).

PS: I love those groups too! I was thinking of doing a playlist of them (soon!)😊
