April TBR | 2018

Hello bookworms! I’m Nia and today I’m going to be talking about all the books I want to read this April.

I decided to do this TBR a bit differently. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of people pick their books from a TBR jar, so since I have a pretty large TBR full of books wanting to be read, I kind of did the same thing. I had written down all of the books I have unread, and I chose a few of them randomly. I also have a few ARCs that are coming out soon-ish that I want to read, so I added those to the list.

But without further ado, let’s start with my TBR!

A Girl Like That | Tanaz Bhathena

Sixteen-year-old Zarin Wadia is many things: a bright and vivacious student, an orphan, a risk taker. She’s also the kind of girl that parents warn their kids to stay away from: a troublemaker whose many romances are the subject of endless gossip at school.  You don’t want to get involved with a girl like that, they say. So how is it that eighteen-year-old Porus Dumasia has only ever had eyes for her? And how did Zarin and Porus end up dead in a car together, crashed on the side of a highway in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia? When the religious police arrive on the scene, everything everyone thought they knew about Zarin is questioned. And as her story is pieced together, told through multiple perspectives, it becomes clear that she was far more than just a girl like that.

This beautifully written debut novel from Tanaz Bhathena reveals a rich and wonderful new world to readers. It tackles complicated issues of race, identity, class, and religion, and paints a portrait of teenage ambition, angst, and alienation that feels both inventive and universal.

Tales From The Shadowhunter Academy | Cassandra Clare

Simon Lewis has been a human and a vampire, and now he is becoming a Shadowhunter. But the events of City of Heavenly Fire left him stripped of his memories, and Simon isn’t sure who he is anymore. He knows he was friends with Clary, and that he convinced the total goddess Isabelle Lightwood to go out with him…but he doesn’t know how.
